In the above broadcast (TF1 and France 2, in French), the airplane heads towards thunderclouds to take essential in-situ measurements of the electrical fields. The PLANET system is used by the scientists to provide guidance in real-time to the flight crew, and to share global situation awareness, thanks among others to live radar and lightning strike information.
