IAGOS RTTU

IAGOS (In-service Aircraft for a Global Observing System) combines leading-edge scientific technology with the existing infrastructure of civil aviation to provide relevant data for atmospheric research and weather prediction.

The goal of the initiative is to provide an operational capability for transmitting the Air Quality information, routinely collected on in-service aircraft with IAGOS instruments.

The Real-Time Transmission Unit (RTTU), developed by ATMOSPHERE, relies on satellite communication media to transmit worldwide in-situ atmospheric measurements to Weather Services on the ground.

The IAGOS RTTU system is now in service and operated under the responsibility of IAGOS-AISBL.
