EUREC4A/ATOMIC Mission in progress on Barbados island

From mid-January 2020, the EUREC4A/ATOMIC Field Study has been in progress on Barbados island, in Caribbean sea. This project is called EUREC4A -the World Climate Research Programme's Grand Science Challenge on Clouds, Circulation and Climate Sensitivity - for European Institutions and ATOMIC - Atlantic Tradewind Ocean Atmosphere Mesoscale Interaction Campaign - for American institutions. More than 30 institutions from 11 different countries collaborate together for this international climatological mission.
PLANET is now installed on AWI’s POLAR

PLANET has just been delivered to AWI (Alfred-Wegener-Institut). AWI’s research is conducted over the inaccessible, ice-covered regions of the arctic and antarctic with POLAR (Basler BT-67 plane). In polar areas, telecommunications between on-board systems and the ground segment are particularly challenging. One of the solutions is to rely on Iridium satellite communications which have whole world coverage, including polar areas. ATMOSPHERE’s PLANET DCS (Data Communication Server), integrated Iridium Satellite modem, is an equipment that enables mobile communication between the ground and airborne systems, using both terrestrial and satellite networks as available. Our team is glad to accompany this research and to support their real-time strategic communication and data analysis.

Thanks to ATMOSPHERE’s satellite terminal developments and collaboration with Iridium Communications Inc. in recent years, our products based on Iridium 9523 modem integration have received Iridium certification. ATMOSPHERE satellite communication terminal gives you worldwide connectivity, even in polar areas. We are happy and honored by this certification, and hope to develop and deploy the Iridium even more satellite connectivity solutions thanks to this.
PLATIN Project kicked off.

ATMOSPHERE kicked off PLATIN project on May 2019. This R&D project aims to expand PLANET services, which have been operated since 2012. PLANET solution is now operational on several aircraft in Flight Test and Scientific communities. This includes airplanes ATR42, Falcon20, Cessna Caravan, Gulfstream G550, Boeing 757, Airbus A340, A350, A321, Beluga XL, as well as helicopters, balloons and UAVs.
